If you want to recycle your Christmas tree once the holidays are over and the tree is bare, and you live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, it will be easy to do..
Most of the cities in the Dallas/Fort Worth area accepting Christmas trees for recycling, making it easy to dispose of your tree in a way that’s good for the environment; in some of those cities, you can get some free mulch, too.
Here are some of the cities (listed alphabetically) that will recycle your Christmas tree, with dates, times, and locations.
Arlington
December 26 through January 9, two drop off locations:
Calloway’s Nursery, 4940 S. Cooper Street, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
Arlington Sanitary Landfill, 800 Mosier Valley Road, from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
Trees placed on the curb will be picked up, but not recycled; trees taller than six feet must be cut in half to be picked up.
Mulch will be available at a later date, check with the city for details.
Dallas
Drop off at seven Home Depot stores from December 26 through January 2.

11682 Forest Central Dr.
Flower Mound
December 26 through January 8 at Gerault Park, 1200 Gerault Rd., from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will also be a spot designated for after hours drop-off. Residents wanting mulch should bring their own containers.
Grand Prairie
Trees can be dropped off at the Home Depots located at 3850 Carrier Parkway and 5280 SH 360 from December 26 through January 13. Trees will also be accepted at the Grand Prairie Landfill, 1102 MacArthur Blvd.
Trees may also be left at the curb on normal garbage pickup days.
Grapevine
Christmas trees and Christmas paper will be accepted for recycling on January 7 at the Grapevine Municipal Service Center, 501 Shady Brook Dr. from 8 a.m. to noon. Trees will be mulched and the mulch will be available to residents.
Grand Prairie
Trees can be dropped off at the Home Depots located at 3850 Carrier Parkway and 5280 SH 360 from December 26 through January 13. Trees will also be accepted at the Grand Prairie Landfill, 1102 MacArthur Blvd.
Trees may also be left at the curb on normal garbage pickup days.
Irving
Christmas trees will be picked up for recycling as part of regular brush/bulk trash pick up from December 27 through January 9.
Trees can also be dropped off at the following locations from December 26 to January 8:
Cottonwood Park, 4051 N. Story Rd.
Southwest Park, 2800 W. Shady Grove Rd.
Drop-off Recycling Center, 8555 Home Depot Dr.
Hunter Ferrell Landfill, 220 W. Hunter Ferrell Rd., from 7 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. daily, except New Year’s Day.
Mansfield
Trees can be dropped off at the City of Mansfield’s Environmental Services Department, 501 S. 2nd Ave., December 27 through January 13, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Trees will be mulched, and mulch will be available for pick up at a later date (check with the city for details).
Plano
Trees will be picked up as part of regular garbage pickup starting January 3. Trees can also be dropped of at three locations from December 26 to January 8:
Preston Meadow Park, 4243 Lorimar Dr.
High Point Park, 6500 Alma Dr.
Heritage Yards Ball Fields, 4525 Hedgecoxe Rd.
No matter what the location, in order for Christmas trees to be recycled, they must be clean (no lights, ornaments, tinsel, or flocking), and without string, wire, nails, and tree stands.
