Carlos Zambrano May Soon Be Gone and the Cubs Cannot Be Happier

The rumors that Carlos Zambrano has been talking to Ozzie Guillen about possibly joining the Miami Marlins has not brought up charges of tampering, but has brought Chicago Cubs fans joy that Zambrano may soon be gone.

I do not know if Ozzie Guillen can control Carlos Zambrano and frankly I do not care, but I do care that the Cubs may actually get rid of him and get something in return. I imagine that the more of Carlos’ contract that the Cubs take on the better the prospect that the Marlins will have to give up in return.

I doubt the new General Manager will be taken to the woodshed as former General Manager Jim Hendry was in the Juan Pierre deal in December of 2005.

I do not expect the Cubs to get a top prospect no matter how much of Big “Z’s” contract they take on, after all the Cubs are getting something just by getting rid of him. However, they will be well on their way to obtaining a locker room free of the foolishness and selfishness that has went on for over 10 years.

Getting rid of Carlos Zambrano is a great start to the new culture that the Cubs want to build. The Cubs will overlook possible tampering, if indeed that is the case, all to get rid of a guy that went from an ace of the future to a guy who you will pay to stay away.

As a Cubs fan, I am tired of hearing how Carlos is a nice guy, he is misunderstood. Did Michael Barrett misunderstand Carlos? I do not think you can misunderstand an altercation that sent you to the hospital. Did Carlos Marmol not understand when Carlos Zambrano called him out and stared him down after he blew a Zambrano win against St. Louis?

Poor Carlos Zambrano is misunderstood but everyone else seems to get hurt. I hope the Marlins are ready.
