Business: Multi-media, Addiction Can Cost Business

Did you wake up this morning to some alarm clock, a radio or television playing? Did you know there is something called Multi-Media Addiction? This addition is on overreaching indulgence in the need for electronic media of today. We all have a need to stay in touch, to communicate and gain information from others. The electronic addition goes beyond this to video games, car radios, entertainment systems, etc… And every year we want the newest things, believing such will be better or improve our lives more. The effects are starting to show up in many ways, what is a surprise is the methods this addiction effects us most of all. We can slowly lose our lives and business senses if we are not careful to monitor this better.

Thinking about your day, how connected are you to what is going on across the nations or globe? Many begin the day attempting to get caught up on the things happening around the world, events that occurred as they slept now changing the world. The sound of music to wake to continues as we fix breakfast or drive our cars. Weather and traffic reports to speed up our time to get to work, children playing video games while parents drive. How many have answered their cell phones as well? Staying busy is one thing, staying connected 24/7 is another. All these multi-tasking requirements are taking away the time we devote to others and ourselves.

Such multi-media tasking actually effects the way we think, the higher brain cells light up in a peculiar manner effect the development and reasoned thoughts we have. Our brain cells in the highest intellectual areas interact with the very thought of these devices. The lure to grab and gather them to our attention is partly the fault of advertising. But not all can be blamed on just this, we as individuals share this blame, unwilling to accept the need to stop. When you pick up the cell phone, while driving or playing with your child, you are also stating the phone is more important than the other. Even if you do not know who is calling, it called, the phone rang. Which is the master, the one calling or the one who has the right to choose not to respond? Which is more important the child you say you love, or the electronic device demanding attention? This is the same demand any addict has, the needs to satisfy the addiction or the responsibilities of life.

Already the easy of interacting with technology has invaded our lives so much we are relaxed around it. Introduced to such as children, we keep relying on it to easy our lives more than we do ourselves. Our access to food has increased along with this, so we now do more with less exercise and eat more as well. Wonder why those pounds are hard to lose? Our interactions even with each other are being affected more often. Businesses are developed by the reputations and interactions one has directly with customers. But technology intervenes to remove this personal touch, allowing than for less developed relationships to exist. If social media and business reputations are so important to your success, one needs to develop more personal relationships than just a phone call.

Finding the means around this will strengthen any business. Added benefits will come from better health in exercising more and insuring your personal life stays personal. Watch out for the addiction of technology, it is meant to strengthen you, not take over. You are either the brains and decision maker or the machines have already gathered your sense and control over you.
