Buffalo’s Bubble Pops

The Buffalo Bills were coming into this week’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals with an explosive offense and a lot of momentum which has carried them to a 3-0 record. Last week Buffalo ended a 15 game losing streak against the Patriots and inherited the longest undefeated streak against a team, that being the Cincinnati Bengals with a 10 game winning streak. However, this streak may seem to be cursed as the Buffalo Bills fell to the Cincinnati Bengals 23-20.

The Buffalo Bills struggled on offense in the first half as the Cincinnati Bengals scored first to lead the game 3-0. However, Buffalo would respond with once again coming from behind and tying the game 3-3. Buffalo then began to show signs of life in the 2nd quarter as the defense for Buffalo finally began to shut down the offense of Cincinnati. Buffalo’s defense intercepted Cincinnati’s Dalton twice. The First interception was returned for a touchdown by Buffalo’s Brian Scott. After the second interception in Buffalo’s own end of the field, Fred Jackson took an easy 3-yard run into the end zone before the half.

The second half of the football game saw a comeback but not one Bill fans are used to seeing this year as Cincinnati scored 10 points in their first two possessions. Buffalo’s offense struggled to really get going in the second half scoring only 3 points the entire half. However, Cincinnati’s offense did not have the same trouble. Cincinnati’s offense powered through Buffalo’s defense on the legs of Cedric Benson and the hands of A.J. Green. The end result was Cincinnati scoring 20 second half points leading to Buffalo’s defeat.

Buffalo has been riding high on the strength of their offense the past few weeks and when encountered by a tough defense fell short on the road. While, Buffalo has exceeded expectations this year so far, this week of football showed that Buffalo has a ways to go to improve. Now all fans can do is to sit and see how Buffalo recovers next week against Philadelphia and Michael Vick.
