An Extraordinary Moment on Stage

To be honest with you, I have been on many stages before. I have been blessed to be able to be in theatre and sing in churches and talent shows as well. However, what happened when my wife and I went on a cruise together beats all of that. Here is what happened.

My wife and I saw that there were sign ups for the ship’s talent show. We decided to sign up. Little did we know, there were only 6 acts total performing. We both got the opportunity to be in the show. We were so excited. She decided to sing a song and I decided to do a comedy routine featuring my muppet impersonations.

The day of the show, I was definitely nervous. I had never done a comedy act like this before live. I practiced and practiced and still felt really nervous. Then, 10 pm came. Time for the show. There were 2 acts in front of me. They were really good. Now it is my turn to try to delight the audience. By the way, there were 800-1000 people there.

It was now time for me to perform. My name gets called and what do I do, I trip on the top step. I didn’t fall, but it seemed to flow with my act. I took the mic and started my act. I did a 2 minutes bit from the Muppet Movie using 8 different voices. I was so glad the crowd was into it all. I was so excited that I couldn’t feel my legs. I ended by bit with Kermit the Frog singing” Rainbow Connection” with a little help from Miss Piggy, the Swedish Chef, and Fozzie Bear. The crowd ate it up. It was so much fun.

Going in to the talent show, I wasn’t sure this was the act I needed to do. I can sing some, but I felt led to be funny instead. Thank God it worked out. It couldn’t have been better.

So, I want to encourage you to step out and faith and do something a little unconfortable. You may be surprised at the results. I definitely was!
