Absorbine Jr. was discovered by Wilbur and Mary Young in 1892. The liniment’s original purpose was for use on horses. Shortly thereafter it was discovered to relieve muscle and joint pain in humans.
Absorbine Jr. starts the pores to open up when applied, making the body send more blood flow to the painful area to promote healing. Additionally, it can be used to heighten the effectiveness of massage therapy by loosening up tight muscles.
Suggested Uses
Not only is Absorbine Jr. great for temporary relief of minor aches and pains of muscles and joints associated with arthritis, bruises, sprains, strains and backache. It can also be effective on the discomfort of athlete foot, ringworm and even insect bites and as an antiseptic to help prevent infection.

Inactive Ingredients: Absinthium Oil, Acetone, Chloroxylenol, FD&C Blue 1 (CI 42090), FD&C Yellow 6 Aluminum Lake, Iodine, Plant Extracts of Calendula, Echinacea Angustifolia (Coneflower), Wormwood, Potassium Iodide, Thymol, Water. Also, have blends of natural herbal extracts.
Directions
Adults and children 2 years of age and older, apply to the affected area no more than 3 to 4 times daily. Children under 2 years of age, consult a doctor.

My Experience
I purchased the Absorbine Jr Fast Absorbing Pain Relieving Liquid – 4 oz. I recall my grandparents using Absorbine Jr. for aches and pain. I based my choice to purchase Absorbine Jr on account of remembering how much it relieved my grandparents’ pain.
I woke up the other day with serious shoulder pain and a stiff neck. Movement was inconceivable. I applied Absorbine Jr. on the sore areas of my neck and shoulder and relief came quickly. It did cause a cool burning sensation when I first applied it to my skin. The sensation did diminish in a short time. If I needed to apply more at a later time, the spongy applicator made it so easy and convenient to use. I also like the fact that I did not have to use my hands to apply the product. No, messy, smelly, greasy hands. Just great and very effective.
The smell could be a little offensive for some and cool burning sensation may not be tolerable. That’s the only shortcoming! I am sure it’s the menthol that causes the cool burn and smell. For quick relief I highly recommend it.
