ABC’s Revenge Episode Guide, Episode 9 (Suspicion): Will Jack Ever Find Out that “Amanda” Isn’t Really Amanda?

Previously on Revenge’s “Treachery,” the fake Amanda Clarke (Margarita Levieva) was suposed to be on a plane to Paris, a decision and arrangement made by Emily Thorne (Emily VanCamp). Emily had to protect her past from ever emerging at all cost even if it meant sending away her unwanted, but very useful ally. What we thought was the end of the pesky Amanda, we see her in the flesh at Jack Porter’s (Nick Wechsler) stow away bar. She’s getting quite comfortable as she sets her eye on Emily’s most beloved person. This is the moment when you wish TV characters can hear you shouting NO!!!

Just as predicted, Amanda did not keep her word to Emily. Instead of flying to Paris as directed, she stayed behind for the sole purpose of putting her nasty claws on Jack. Oh for goodness sakes! Can Emily kill pesky Amanda already?

Meanwhile back at the Hamptons, Victoria Grayson (Madeline Stowe) urges Charlote Grayson (Christa B. Allen), her daughter to stop seeing the blue collared Declan Porter, Jack’s brother (Connor Paolo), for fear that their different social class will only hurt Charlotte at the end. When Charlotte refused, Victoria went as far as offering Declan money to stop seeing her daughter. Hey maybe Victoria is on to something because for the life of me, I don’t see any chemistry between these two. They look like they could be brothers and sisters!

Victoria then confronts Emily about her son Daniel Grayson (Joshua Bowman). The two women practically threw daggers at each other with words. Emily makes it clear that she has no intentions of hurting Daniel in the process while Victoria commands Emily to not hurt her son. Meow! These ladies sure love to sharpen their claws.

While Victoria is busy tending to these suspicions of hers, back at the mansion Conrad Grayson (Henry Czerny) manages to take his mistress, Lydia Davis (Amber Valletta) away from Victoria’s grasps. Conrad and Victoria are on bitter terms and threatens to bring each other down if one of them decides to expose each other about their conspiracy. Once again, Victoria is all alone. Boohoo! Though I sometimes feel sorry for her, Victoria should have done the right thing when she had the chance to. It looks like Emily’s revenge is happening slowly and painfully for Victoria.

The most dreaded segment of Revenge’s Suspicion is when Amanda warms up to Jack and goes on a sailing trip with him on his boat. Even Nolan Ross (Gabriel Mann) could not convince her to hit the road when he warns her not to go against Emily’s forces. She threatens to retaliate against Emily if Emily tries to get rid of her. On the boat, fake Amanda gets romantic with Jack. They kissed and that’s when Amanda decides to drop her fake bombshell on him.

She tells Jack that she is in fact Amanda Clarke, the childhood friend that he has been waiting for. Of course poor Jack fell for her trick and introduces her to Emily, the real Amanda Clarke. That moment when Jack takes Amanda’s hand in front of Emily was dreadful. You can only imagine what kind of fire was brewing inside her.

Will Jack ever find out that Emily is the real Amanda? My guess is that it will be a long while until the truth comes out. As much as it kills her, Emily is too involved and too consumed in revenge. She will most likely go along with the deceit to keep Amanda’s mouth shut. Though the lie is so believable, will Jack be that stupid for long? Perhaps there will be some things he will pick up? Maybe Sammy the dog will help Jack sense that fake Amanda isn’t really Amanda by barking and growling at her? We might get lucky if Sammy would just bite her in the butt. Or perhaps Jack will wonder why Sammy is so fond of Emily, but not fake Amanda? Surely, he cannot disregard that feeling of familiarity that he has for Emily? The worst case scenario is that Emily will fall too much in love with Daniel and Jack Porter might just stay in her past. But then again, isn’t Daniel supposed to be dead? What if Jack ends up being charged with his murder? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
