A Review of Loreal Extra Intense Liquid Pencil Eyeliner

Eyeliner is one of the indispensable makeup items that can make or break a look. A properly applied quality product can do wonders to open up the eye, but an easily smudged subpar performer can make the wearer look like a tiny-eyed raccoon. Perhaps this eyeliner review will be helpful for those that hate liners with no staying power.

I like to experiment with new brands from time to time in search of the best eyeliner. Recently, I purchased Loreal Extra Intense Liquid Pencil Eyeliner in ” black” from the local drug store for around $7.00. The pencil looked very much like every other eyeliner pencil, black with gold inscribed lettering; however, it claimed to have the intensity of a liquid liner. If you have ever used liquid liner, you know how bold the look can be and how difficult it is to be precise with that tiny brush applicator. My experimentation with liquid liner never yielded the results I hoped for, but this Loreal Extra Intense Liquid Pencil Eyeliner is a pencil, right?

When I unpackaged the liner, I was thankful to find it was not made to be sharpened like traditional liners. Who enjoys fumbling with those little sharpeners while trying to get the perfect point, all without whittling down the eyeliner? I checked the packaging again and noticed the term “self-advancing.” The consumer dispenses additional product by twisting the end opposite the eyeliner’s point, similar to the way most deodorants are advanced.

Anxious to try out my latest find, I removed the clear top and gently swept the product across the lash line of my upper lid. The glide was smooth and friction-free; there was no tug or pull against my skin. The resulting appearance was boldly intense, precise and very black, but not alternative or over-the-top. I rubbed my finger across the freshly applied eyeliner, and it only smudged slightly. After about 5 seconds, I repeated this action and was surprised to find that the liquid-looking product barely budged.

Unintentionally checking durability, I failed to remove my makeup prior to going to bed that night. Surprisingly, this product did not leave me with raccoon eyes even after a full day and night of wear. When I finally did comply with my healthy skin regimen, Loreal Extra Intense Liquid Pencil Eyeliner would not budge with plain water. I used a bit of organic coconut oil, but any eye makeup remover would probably have sufficed.

Loreal Extra Intense Liquid Pencil eyeliner is just what the name implies, eyeliner with the easy precision of a pencil and the glide and boldness of a liquid. I have received quite a few compliments on this product. It is the best eyeliner I have tried to date. For those that try the product based on this eyeliner review, please leave a comment and share your thoughts.
