A Car and a Court Fee

The group seated at the station next to Sam and David’s became unusually loud. The unavoidably heard argument appeared to be about taking out a loan on a car to get money for court fees. Suddenly, the presumed father in the group stood up with enough force to tip over his chair. He hit the buzzer and, when allowed, stormed out. Sam thought this unfortunate, given that fathers were in the definite minority of visitors to the juvenile justice center. “It’s too bad he got so mad” Sam said to David through the glass. “Well,” said David, “that guy’s in because he stole his mom’s car.”
