WWE Monday Night RAW 8-29-11 Results

Triple H came out to the ring and said that it is now his job to give the fans everything they deserve and the best the company has to offer. He then announced that for the foreseeable future, RAW would feature RAW stars, as well as Smackdown stars, to create a RAW super show. That was the cool part of being COO, but the not cool part was people lying to him, including his good friend Kevin Nash. Triple H then asked Nash to come to the ring and explain why he lied to him. Instead of Nash he got CM Punk however. Punk complimented Triple H on his acting job, and told Triple H to admit that he was in fact the liar. Then, the old nWo music played as Kevin Nash came to the ring. Nash told Triple H that yes, he did lie to him last week about the crash, and it was because Triple H wouldn’t let Nash finish what he had to do. He said that Punk was the problem and that Triple H should not forget that Punk has insulted him and his wife, asking Triple H what kind of man he is. Triple H said that he is the kind of man who expects not to get lied to by his best friend and said he couldn’t trust Nash, so Nash should leave and not come back. Nash said that while Triple H was out of the building last week, John Laurinitis signed Nash to a guaranteed lucrative deal, so if Triple H felt he needed to fire him, Nash would sit at home and get paid. Triple H said that he wouldn’t fire Nash, but the lying had to stop. That’s when Punk got back into the conversation pretending to be sick on both men’s shoes, and proceeded to insult Nash and Triple H until Nash told Triple H to book the match between Nash and Punk for Night of Champions. Punk then told Triple H that he should book it but he should check with his wife since she really runs the company and wears the pants, while Triple H wears her panties. Triple H, aggravated at the situation agreed to the match and told Nash and Punk he had two words for them raising the mic for the crowd to scream “Suck it!”. As he walked out, Nash and Punk stared each other down, until Randy Orton’s music played and the World Champion came out, silently standing near the entrance way, raising his belt.

Match 1: Randy Orton v. Dolph Ziggler

When Orton was ready to hit Dolph with a DDT through the ropes, he was distracted by Vicki who climbed onto the ring apron, and Dolph escaped Orton’s grasp, throwing Orton to the outside. Dolph followed Orton out and hit him with the Zig Zag on the floor. He then threw Orton back in the ring and took control of the match. Ziggler beat on Orton in and out of the ring, trying to pin him multiple times, but never successfully scoring a win. When Dolph went to the middle ropes and sat on the top turnbuckle for a breather, Orton nailed him with a superplex and went for a pin. Dolph kicked out which caused Orton to get agitated and stalk the US Champion. Orton dodged the charging Dolph’s clothesline attempt and power slammed him. He continued his offense on Dolph, but was caught with a surprise kick to the gut and hit with a rocker dropper. Dolph then went for a neck breaker, but Orton reversed and rolled up Ziggler for a pin, but Ziggler escaped. Orton executed several other creative moves on Ziggler, who kept escaping pin falls. As Dolph was getting to his feet, Orton tried to punt him in the head, but got blindsided by a super kick to the face. Dolph covered Orton and almost got the three count. He continued his offense, only to have Orton reverse momentum, swinging Dolph through the ropes, after dodging the Zig Zag attempt, only for the sake of hitting him with a DDT. As Orton tried to hit the RKO, Dolph snuck up behind him and tried to hit the Zig Zag again, but Orton got away, and whipped Dolph off the ropes, tossing him up in the air, sending the US champion crashing face first to the mat. As Dolph bounced up, Orton snapped an instant RKO, putting Dolph away with a pin fall.

Winner: Randy Orton

After refusing to be interviewed backstage, John Cena came out to the ring and said that Alberto Del Rio’s words were that he would be an honorable champion, but his actions showed the exact opposite. He then said his goal was to kick Del Rio’s teeth so far down his throat that Del Rio’s mouth would become his anus. He then called Del Rio out, but got Mark Henry instead. Henry pointed out that he has taken out many stars over the last several weeks, and John Cena would join the “Hall of Pain” list. He then said that he will be the World Champion come Night of Champions. This caused Christian to come out and said that he will beat and embarrass Orton tomorrow night, but for now he wanted to tell Cena that he hates whiners who bitch and moan. Cena told Henry and Christian to bring it or be gone, so they set themselves to go after Cena, when Sheamus’s music played and the Irish star came out, standing side by side with Cena while Henry and Christian slowly backed away from the fight.

In the back John Laurrinitis told referee Charles Robinson that he would set up a tag team match with Cena and Sheamus teaming up to take on Christian and Mark Henry. Triple H walked in reminding Laurrinitis that he already made this match for tonight, and not to forget that Triple H is his boss.

Match 2: CM Punk v. The Miz

The Miz came out with a microphone in hand and said that Punk is worse than Cena with the garbage he spews. The Miz said that he has been speaking honestly before Punk started to, and if last week was not enough of an indication of what he will do to get noticed again, tonight will be. This would then turn out to be a very solid, intense and competitive match with the momentum shifting back and forth as the men battled for over ten minutes. The match came to a close when the Miz unsuccessfully attempted a superplex, and got knocked to the mat, as Punk came off the top rope with a Randy Savage-like elbow drop. When he then lifted the Miz onto his shoulders for a GTS, R-Truth hit the ring and attacked Punk, getting the Miz disqualified. Punk fought both men off and hit R-Truth with the GTS. Nash made his way to the ring and while Punk was anticipating his entry, Miz took him down with a shot from behind. As Nash waited, R-Truth and the Miz put the boots to Punk, until Nash stared them down, and proceeded to power bomb Punk in the center of the ring.

Winner: CM Punk (by disqualification)

Match 3: Sin Cara v. Jack Swagger

After an initial advantage, Swagger turned the tables on Sin Cara. He noticed Vicki Guerrero watching and tried to show off a bit, nearly letting his advantage slip away. Dolph Ziggler came out and distracted Swagger, who was nailed by a jumping DDT by Sin Cara and pinned after the signature combination flipping Senton and somersault. Dolph ordered Vicki to follow him away from ringside which she reluctantly did.

Winner: Sin Cara

Match 4: David Otunga & Mike McGullicutty v. Kofi Kingston & Evan Bourne (WWE Tag Team Championship)

After Bourne dove out onto Otunga on the outside, McGullicutty missed a clothesline on Kofi, and got nailed with the Trouble In Paradise, as Kofi scored the pinning win for his team. Throughout the match Jerry Lawler was poking fun at how boring the losing team was, and after the match they angrily confronted him, as Otunga slapped the headset off Lawler’s head and threw it in his chest, defying Lawler to say something about them now.

Winners: Kofi Kingston & Evan Bourne

Match 5: Kelly Kelly v. Brie Bella

When Eve tried to intervene to stop Kelly from being hit by a sliding drop kick, Brie nailed her with the drop kick instead. Kelly returned the favor by taking Brie down with the clothesline. As the ref somewhat lost sight of the match, Nicki slipped into the ring in Brie’s place and surprised Kelly with a face plant that resulted in Kelly getting pinned.

Winner: Brie Bella

Match 6: Christian & Mark Henry v. Sheamus & John Cena

After Sheamus was able to escape a beat-down from both Christian and Henry, he tagged in Cena who dominated both men for a while. Sheamus did have to intervene again to help Cena avoid a double team, causing Henry to fly through the ropes to the outside of the ring. Sheamus followed him out with a diving forearm through the ropes. In the meantime, Cena was speared by Christian but wouldn’t be pinned. Christian went for the Kill Switch, but Cena shoved him off, and as Christian turned around he was hit with an Attitude Adjustment and got pinned.

Winners: Sheamus & John Cena

As the winning tag team celebrated on the outside, Triple H watched on from a monitor in the back. CM Punk approached him and Triple H told him that his match with Nash has been canceled, and Punk will now be facing Triple H himself at Night of Champions.
