Worst Spring Cleaning Tips for Reducing Home Clutter

These are the five worst spring cleaning tips for decluttering your home that came to mind. Everything in your home has a purpose. If you use it, keep it; otherwise it’s time for it to go.

Getting Rid of Books

If by chance someone read an article on getting rid of books as a way to spring clean, that choice may not be viable because not everyone can afford an ebook reader. Not only that, there are those who love books plain and simple.

There are people who are disabled and unable to get out to the library or a book resale store to sell off their books. Libraries, book stores whether they sell new or used books depend on these customers, authors depend on customers for royalties for print books, and the list goes on.

Moving CDs to a Hard Drive

Sorry to tell whoever came up with this idea, it’s a loser of one. For instance, my mom doesn’t own a computer so that idea is out of the question for her. It is also silly for those who use the CD player in their stereo and car to make such a move.

Mismatched Dishes

Not everything in your kitchen has to match. Having mismatched dinner ware and glasses can be a fun way to have dinner at the table. The same goes for pots, pans, and skillets. Having to have everything perfect in your life and home really isn’t worth the stress it puts on your body.

Getting Rid of the TV in the Bedroom

If you really enjoy watching TV with your spouse or while laying in bed, keep it. As far as saving energy, just turn it off when you start getting sleepy; problem solved. Dusting your TV and other furniture is a nice physical activity and it doesn’t require a gym membership.

Keep the Bookcases

They aren’t just for holding books. I have very little cabinet space in my kitchen. I use two foldable bookcases for my pots, pans, skillets, bakeware, and small appliances. In one bedroom, I set one up as a shoe storage area. By using these three bookcases in this manner, I can grab the things I use most often in the kitchen and no more looking for that long lost shoe.

As you can see, there are reasons why not everyone should or can get rid of certain items in your home. Upcycle in your home before donating or selling items people tell you to get rid of.
