Why Altamont, IL?

Altamont, IL, sits eleven miles West of Effingham, Il, off I-70. It’s a very clean and friendly town with so much to offer a visitor or someone wanting to move into this area. There truly are plenty of restaurants and hotels in the area to accommodate your stay.

I’m originally from a very small town in northern Indiana, but have lived all four corners of the United States, so I’m confident you will find this town not only friendly, but also clean and well-kept, and something for anyone all year round.

In the Summer, the Abate of Illinois meets at the county fair grounds.
In the Fall, there’s county fair, tractor pull, rodeo and the Altamont Schuetzenfest.

There are also several Antique shops and a large flea market one mile East of Altamont, with a used furniture store as well.

The Altamont Museum: Once a Presbyterian Church, it has been renovated and is now used for live performances of plays, drama and music.

I have toured the Wright House Mansion personally and it’s fascinating to step over 100 years back in time and see in person how well maintained it is with its original furniture and household goods, used since the 1880’s.
