Vegas Vacation Ideas: Cheap Hotels, Cheap Shows, Good Eats

Las Vegas has so much of something for everyone. If you’re looking for fun things to do, gaming, theater, music, performance, dining, and 24 hour fun, Vegas is the place to be. The perpetual sunshine of the Nevada deserts and the vast range of hotel options in Las Vegas make this place the perfect spot to go for any budget. But what does one do? Where should you go? Consider these suggestions and you could come to some good mix of good times for your own Las Vegas vacation memories.

Cheap Hotels: No Las Vegas vacation is complete without spending a night (or three) inside of Sin City. Contrary to popular belief the hotels in Las Vegas are not all stuffy, too-expensive palaces. Heck even some of the bigger hotels on the Strip and just off the Strip are cheap! If you’re looking to touchdown and want to be in Vegas on the Strip consider booking online and try Circus Circus, Excalibur, or Harrah’s. At all three of these hotels you can get rock bottom prices on rooms when there are rooms to be had.

A couple of other hotels just off the strip have really good rates as well. Try Vegas Club Hotel, El Cortez, or Four Queens; all on Fremont Street just off the Strip. The good thing is that they are all within a short stroll of the Strip proper.

Theatre Events: The hotels on the Strip may not be very cheap but you can get some great deals on cheap event tickets at the last minute or through a third party discount site. The theatres in Las Vegas are almost never full; this is bad news for the shows but great news for customers as you can decide to walk up to the ticket window a half hour before the show and see what’s going on. Shows are always changing in Las Vegas but one show I saw there last time was the long running Viva Elvis from Cirque du Soleil. Cirque du Soleil usually have three or more shows running in Vegas at any one time; they are a great show to try and get out and see.

Dining: One place where you could break the bank even before you hit the bankroll on the casino floor is in the amazing dining options to complement your Las Vegas vacation. Hugo’s Cellar at the Four Queens Hotel and Casino is really special. Featuring seafood, hearty American, and more Hugo’s is a great spot to check out.

If you’re looking for something a little different head over to Sahara Avenue and give Hash House a Go Go a shot. This place is amazing; with epic portions, inventive menu options and everything can be cooked to order. If you go to Hash House a Go Go for their epic breakfasts, make sure you leave plenty of time between then and lunch; you won’t be hungry; trust me. Imagine the best and biggest breakfast you’ve ever had anywhere, then increase that by at least one half if not doubled to get an idea of what the menu at Hash House a Go Go is all about.

Gaming: Of course everyone comes to Las Vegas for the gaming and that’s fine. Just don’t sell your vacation short by spending all your time and all your dime pulling those levers, flipping down cards, or taking a spin on the wheel. Figure your gambling budget and stick to it. Beating the house is impossible but enjoy this desert town and all the other fun things to do on your Las Vegas vacation.
