Unforgettable First Date Ideas for Men

So, you landed a date with the girl you been chatting up – be it in person or even on-line on a dating website. What do plan for that first date? You could always do dinner and a movie, but how many other guys have taken this girl out for the same type of date? And, well, let’s be honest, she’s not with any of them anymore, now is she?

Your goal is to plan a fun unforgettable first date. Here’s a little secret. There’s only one thing you need to do to plan a date that will resonate with your girl: make it personal to her. Women want to know that you have listened to them, considered their interests, personality type, and done something thoughtful. Sure, you want her to know all about you, but that first date is all about the traditional, focus-on-her, wine-and-dine, and just plain making a good impression.

If you are planning a first date, there’s a good chance that you know at least a little bit about the girl – enough that you have something in common or some similar interest. When you first get to know people (and we’ll apply this to women for the purpose of this article), you can generally categorize their personality in one of four dominate types (although we all have a little of each of these in us or may be a split between two types). Your goal is to think about what type of personality your date is and to plan a date accordingly.

The first type of girl is your romantic, artistic type. If you were to take her to a movie, its got to be a romantic one, of course. An impressive dinner is not at your local bar but at the small candlelit restaurant. Bring her some flowers, and you will make quite an impression! If you want to go a step further, do some research on local art exhibits or theater groups. Is there a show in the park or a creative or unique art event taking place? This girl would most likely be interested in attending that type of event.

Your second type of girl is your adventure-seeker. Her favorite type of movie is action-adventure or horror, but she’d rather be outside hiking, rock-climbing, jet-skiing, or doing anything that gives her that exciting rush! A fun restaurant (like Dave & Buster’s) is more her style than a quiet place. If you plan something fun, exciting, and that she’s never done before but always wanted to try (maybe white-water rafting?), you’ll make an unforgettable impression.

Your third type of girl is your intellectual-type. She probably reads a lot of non-fiction and is generally curious about the world around her. She may have a specific interest – like a specific field of science or history. If you take her to a museum, lecture, or book talk, she’ll be in heaven! Even wine-tasting, a cooking class, something where you learn is a great way to make an impression on this girl! If she likes history, a restaurant with an interesting history would be right up her alley.

Your fourth type of girl tends to be organized, family-orientated, and not a risk-taker. She’s right on time for things, so this is one person you don’t want to be late for! A well-thought-out date appeals to this kind of girl. For example, a trip to your local zoo, bowling, roller skating, or catching a wine or jazz festival or dinner at a nice restaurant that you made reservations at afterwards shows her that you put thought into planning things. Don’t plan anything too risky unless you know for sure that she really, really, really wants to do it since this type of girl tends to play it safe. Better to err on the side of caution for a first date.

Once you get to know your date a little better, you’ll see that she has a little of all four types in her (as everyone does), but usually in most people, one type stands out the most. Knowing this can help you to plan a successful first date that is memorable for you both.
