TOp TEn AcTioN FLicKz that ZeN Enjoyed @ Jun 25 ’02 – Vintage Article

Like always in all of my opinions I am weird and different in choosing my ideas and reasons for enjoying a film. While im sure that I will somewhat disagree with my self in the order that the films will follow, their is no doubt that these are my top picks.

Also, I would like to state that I am a relatively young fellow. There for my picks will be from this and the last decade.

With out further delay…. Here they are:

10. The Fast And The Furious

Who said a good action film is only about violence? Not me that is for sure. This movie is laced with hearth thumping action and fills your veins full of adrenalin. Fast cars and even faster women… What more do you need? Maybe a little street racing? Yup this has little violence but yup it sure has Action. Its a mix between drinking a couple…dozen… red bulls, and riding your favorite rollercoaster ten times… After drinking that many Red BUlls.

9. Jurassic Park

Well now how can you not have a movie that holds massive action sequences with dinosaurs. This film is in a category all in it self. Chase scenes, killer raptors, and lawyer being eaten by a T-rex. What more do you want? Sam Neil lead a well chosen cast into a story of tormenting action. This action movie is good. It is good.

8. X-Men

Wolverine. When you have a character in a movie who is just filled with fury… You get a large amount of action scenes. (Like you did not know.) I hope that in the next X film they base the action on his character. (not that they did not in the previous…but Can never get enough of him)At some points in the movie you could say that I held a sort of cheese approach to things. Ultimately they pulled of the main objective: create a decent action flick.

7. Con Air

Im sure many would consider this film to be median or not so great movie. Just remember that it need not be an Oscar caliber movie in order to be a good action movie. I was highly intrigued by the contributions from all the major players in it(cage,malkovich,cuzac,etc..) The action it held was not bad at all.

6. Gladiator

Dazzling film with acting that surpasses most of the mediocre talent that is being raised in Hollywood. Putting the immensely great acting aside, this is absolutely a great fighting movie. The sword fighting.. the cutting of the head… the humping.. the everything! Adrenalin pumping and action packed.

5. Rush Hour

Usually I can’t stand Tucker or Chan but in this film they came together to kick some bad guy butt. Their is much to be said about chemistry. They went together like mayo and lettuce… well… more like… umm p.b. and j.

4. Armageddon

I still find this to be one of the funniest movies that I have encountered. Buscemi was hilarious and refreshing. Its action was well worth the ticket admission. From elaborate scenes in an unpredictable meteor to fights inside space ships. Its filled with aright action stuff.

3. Face/Off

Now here is were we find true action movie magic. I cannot believe how good this movie is. The action never stops. Of course being a Lee film it has his trade mark.. doves? piegeons? Can’t exactly remember but… you know what I mean. Call me crazy but my fav. action scene was in the prison were he’s yelling IM CASTOR TROY!!! IM CASTOR TROY!! Action Packed? Indeed it is.

2. Blade

I know some are sour about this film but its vampires and sword fighting. Gotta love it. It holds great intensity. No one better than Wesley Snipes to play blade. Can’t believe the pile of residual garbage that the sequel turned out to be. (but that another story and a whoooole nother story and …. a lot of therapy.

1. The Matrix

It starts with action it ends with action and believe me theirs enough action in here for any action junkie. Best action flick I’ve seen regardless of Reeves being in it. Its high use of bible references and ideology was enough to keep anyone intrigued. Sci-fi action flick without the dramatic disappointment.
