Top Launch Games for the Sony PS Vita Handheld Console

Just in time to fill a stocking or three in Japan, the new handheld system from Sony, the PS Vita, will hit shelves in Japan on December 17. A mere 8 days before Christmas, last-minute shoppers will look to purchase the new device along with a large collection of launch games that take advantage of the system’s perks.

With 26 different Vita launch games, it may hard to shell out the extra cash for more than a couple, so you want to get your money’s worth and select from the best. Check out some of the top launch games below and prepare for your PS Vita experience.

Hot Shots Golf

The Hot Shots Golf franchise has been a Sony exclusive since the original PlayStation and it is nice to see it continue here. The cartoon golfers add more to the game and now players have even more shooting control with the back touch pad on the Vita.

Great graphics are not really needed for a golf game, but they are still featured here and hopefully the game expands with a 3-par and mini-golf course included.

Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3

The touch screen interface should provide a lot of great combo moves as Wolverine and Ken meet-up again for “Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3.” The first fighter for the PS Vita will not have a lot of competition, but it does have a built-in audience that expects a great game.

Hopefully the novelties of the system do not take away from the game play and rich graphics provide the best experience possible.

Monster Radar

Why use the built in GPS on the Sony Vita when you can discover monsters. In the concept game “Monster Radar,” players follow an actual map of their area and must visit specific locations to discover monsters.

The true feeling of the hunt adds excitement from the game and interactiveness as you leave the living room couch. Once you reach an area, the PS Vita cameras will show the monsters “living” in the location.

Army Corps of Hell

If you’re looking for an action game, then the title alone provides enough criteria. The hell that you will battle in includes worlds of devils and minions. The game looks like the style of “Star Wars: Battlefront” where you battle until one side has a clear victory.

“Army Corps of Hell” provides large levels where you will encounter a variety of monsters and villains that challenges your army. Expect the game to have online game play against other Vita armies.
