Top 5 TV Shows for My Toddler

These are the Top 5 TV shows I let my one-year old daughter watch. I ranked them according to her favorite and why I think they are actually good for her.

Top 5. Angelina Ballerina. At 17-months, my daughter is as nimble as a cat but her first dancing guru is a mouse. Her name is Angelina. And although she probably sounds very foreign with the British accent, she sure inspires my daughter’s moves. My kiddo knows now how to raise her arms and walk in her tippy-toes to the sound of music.

Top 4. The Wiggles. They’re a ridiculous copy of The Beatles but are their songs so catchy! I just saw one day my daughter perfectly following the actions to the song Rock-a-bye-your-bear. The little one grew in her lyrics comprehension just by watching the colorful Sam, Murray, Jeff and Anthony.

Top 3. Play with me Sesame. It’s a spinoff of the popular Sesame Street starring Ernie, Bert, Grover and Prairie Dawn. The interactive format of the show successfully makes my daughter giggle even when she’s watching just by herself. She learns shapes, colors, songs and word-action association in fun silly ways. Top toddler entertainment with educational value.

Top 2. Super Why! Super Why is a superhero who together with his Super Reader gang gives kids the power to read. Through Super Why and his team’s interaction with popular fairy-tale personalities, they teach not just the alphabet and word spelling but also critical thinking in problem solving. I like how the superhero advice to kids are made simple and realistic.

Top 1. Caillou. This is the only show that my daughter would sit through for one straight hour, sometimes even more. I sit with her to watch many times. I am now a fan. Caillou is probably the most well-rounded boy I’ve ever seen. He is a natural leader with an impeccable personality. He is only 4 but his interests range from the visual arts, music, science, sports, environment, construction and engineering, public service and cultures. If he was 40 years old and is running for President I’d vote for him. But yes he is only 4 and the best part of the show is that he is shown with a temper of one. Maybe that is why he’s my daughter’s favorite. It’s like she can relate.
