I recently watch some Youtube videos by the one called Day 9. Well he does a show called Day 9 Dailies and he brought up some pretty good points. What points did he bring up? Well you can check it out by clicking this link. As Day 9 points out even if you got a good build order if you do not use the right fundamentals you will not do that great in the higher leagues. The three things he mentions is hot keys, APM, and mouse movement. I personally agree with all of the above.
I agree with Day 9 because I used to be under the category of scrolling and clicking to build stuff instead of using the hot keys. However, since I started following Day 9 advice I can beat the computer on the hardest difficulty again. Why do I play against the computer? Mainly because I dislike poor sports, as they always have an excuse for losing, and which I would rather avoid. Anyways back on topic it does help, if your build order is great, and your are still losing work on this some more.
The reason why I agree with Day 9 on APM is because he said to have as few of clicks as possible and to be precise when clicking. That is right having the best APM does not do you any good if you are just spam clicking just for your APM. I also tried this and to be honest this feels much better on my hands then what I use to do. Although I never have spammed mouse clicks I always wanted to see if I could get better APM and that probably caused me to lose games countless times. So I would suggest checking out Day 9s daily number 252 for more specifics on how to improve your game.
The last and one of the most important things Day 9 had to say was how to improve your mouse click precision. Why does that matter? Well if your in the middle of a micro and you misclick your unit it could cost you the game just because of that one little mistake you made. If you practice on your mouse precision it will help you mess up even less then before. This is the one thing I was guilty for I mostly scrolled to my expansion instead of click on the mini map which would have saved me plenty of time.
