Sip Some Wine in Houston At These Great Wineries

When you think Houston, Texas you may not think wine, but you just may be surprised of what delicious touring options you have in your very own back yard.

For a true taste of Texas, The Circle S Vineyards winery in Sugar Land, TX. Their tours are sweet and simple with a variety of wines that flavors vary from deep Tuscony with it’s signature Magia de Amore to deep in the heart of Texas with seasonal wines like Blackberry Port or, my favorite, Jalapeno wine. I have tried other Jalapeno wines, but this is by far the best.

The reason The Circle S Vineyards is a favorite winery of mine is because of its right at home atmosphere. You can sit down on a comfy couch, listen to some smooth music and sample some reds all while challenging your husband to a fun board game. The hosts are laid back, and they love to talk wine, and if you’re a newbie to the wine cellar they will be happy to make suggestions on how to pair their wines with Texas cuisine. They’re closed on Mondays, but between Tuesday and Thursday the doors to their tours and tastings open from 1pm to 7:30pm, Friday and Saturday from 11am to 8:30pm and Sundays from 12pm to 5pm. It’s a winery in the heart of the city, and it’s a hidden treasure that you just have to discover for yourself.

Not too far out of town you will find a winery that will a-maze you. The Colony Cellars located in Waller, TX is a fun packed winery that feels like a picnic or small festival more than just your everyday winery tour. They have ponds located on their fifty acre location that are stocked with beautifully colored Koi fish and to add southern charm you’ll be taken back at the flocks of ducks floating atop the water still waters. They have bamboo mazes, a Christmas tree farm, and an observation deck to take in the scenery as well as the rich fragrances of Texas nature.

Before you leave stop by their gift shop and try as many wines as you can, because if there’s ever a place where one sip is just not enough it’s Colony Cellars with the noveau -style wines they offer the public. This is the winery that’s perfect for the family, a girls day out, or a special day with you and your squeeze. It’s not too femme and has all the outdoors any Texas man would need to shamelessly enjoy a wine tasting. They are open Thursday through Sunday from 10:30am to 6pm
