Seahawks 12th Man Silenced. Have We Lost Our Mojo?

For years, Seattle fans have made opposing teams road trip to Seattle one of the least appealing games on their schedule. Whether it was the fear of one of “Down Town” Freddie Browns LONG jumpers, or Kemp’s thunderous “Rainman” dunks. Don’t get Key arena rocking, you couldn’t hear yourself think, let alone the coach call a play.
A Rod,Griffey Jr. and Randy Johnson, there were times I thought the Kingdome would collapse. A pile of concrete laying beneath a sea of “the wave.” Quest field, the 12th man, how many false starts have we caused? Seattle has long been a players city, winning, losing, just give us something to voice our over-caffinated enthusiasm over and we’re on it, like foam on a fresh latte. Regardless of the sport, the score, Seattle brought the red line to the decible meter. How many times have Seattleites heard Gary Payton, Matt Hasselbeck or Edgar Martinez tell tale of the electricity the crowd brought tonight and how it propelled the team to victory?
My personal support has been so strong that the last 3 years my Fantasy Football team has gone by “Hawk Wild” I have found a way the last three years to win my league always having some Seattle players. To me this was a way of showing the world, no matter what our record, that I could win with my Hawks. As I made my moves this week, tweeking the starters, checking the players available, waiving my unproductive, upon hitting submit, I noticed something missing. I have no Seahawks on my team, zero, zilch, nada, how can that be? I know that I drafted Marshon Lynch and Sidney Rice where did they go? What about Hasselbeck, Mare, or the Seahawks defense, surely I have them, nope, two of them are missing from this years “real team” and the third is appearantly still on strike. As for Marshon and Sidney, well without the “beast mode” making an appearance and the other injured, sorry guys I had to let you go. I have a feeling that the best player in a Seahawks jersey this year will be the 12th man. How long will that last? Only time will tell. If fantasy leagues are any reflection, not long. I checked to see if any Seattle player was suiting up for any of my competition in my league, and found all of them to be free agents. To the best of my knowledge this is a fantasy first. How did we go from Superbowl contenders to NFL Pretenders? How long will it be before the 12th man is on IR diagnosed with a broken heart and bruised ego. One thing is for certain, you know you’re bad when fantasy coaches won’t even sit you on the bench.
On a seperate note and sidebar to Seahawks owner Paul Allen. You have used your billions to try to create a better world. Could you please now focus on creating a better team? While Seattle fans are the best in the world, remember when we used to fill the Kingdome for Sonics basketball, leading the NBA in attendance. If you don’t at least give us a chance, a glimmer of hope, we will rebel, we’ll simply stop suiting up. I think Seattle voters showed you that, when they let the Sonics leave after 42 years with our only major sports title. Mr. Allen I don’t know if you have a fantasy team, but if you do…..I wonder how many of your “real team” are you suiting up on your fantasy team?
