Road Trip Tips for Women

Road trips are always fun especially when traveling alone even for women but there are a few things you might want to do and keep in mind before hitting the road. First and foremost if you are driving your own car insure the car has been serviced and that you have a spare tire. There are many road hazards on the road so having a can of the inflatable spare tire foam is also a good backup plan.

There are a few things you will want to keep inside your car near at hand in case of emergencies. A Native American friend shared a few survival tips that were perfect for a single person on a road trip. Have a mirror, a jacket, a box or book of matches, lots of water, a small blanket, and power bars or some type of food that won’t perish. Insure you have a cell phone that is full charged in addition to the car charger battery. If you are driving cross country you might want to pick up one of those pre-paid throw away phones as a backup.

Fortunately there are awesome and modern road stop travel centers that feature restaurants, service stations, and convenience stores all at the same place. This is where truckers stop and shower when on the road. When you stop to fill up whether you are in a moving truck or a personal vehicle, keep in mind the bigger the place and the more well lit the better. Avoid talking to strangers and don’t give any information about yourself to anyone.

One of the most important road trip tips for women is to be sure someone knows that you are on the road. Check in periodically so that your contacts know that you are okay. Give them an idea of your physical location when you check in with them. Enable your GPS on your phone in case of an emergency as this is a convenient tool in tracking the last cell phone towers used and helpful in tracking your location.
