Renewable Energy

With the world continually moving towards a future where traditional fossil-fuel based energy sources getting more expensive, it is important that we reduce our dependency on these non-renewable sources of energy. Finite or non-renewable sources of energy are also slowly running out. Renewable energy solutions refer to those energy solutions that can keep creating energy without exhausting resources. The three main types of energy solutions that fall into the category of renewable energy solutions are solar energy solutions, hydro energy solutions, and wind energy solutions.

Solar energy solutions: The sun’s energy is the most abundant and easily harvested energy available on earth. Making use of this free energy source is a very intelligent solution, and with evolving technology solar power solutions can be easily and affordably used for residential homes. This will not only cut down power bills but also help contribute to a greener, sustainable world. Solar energy solutions comprise of solar power generators, solar heating systems, solar lighting systems and solar hot water systems.

Solar energy systems have many advantages apart from being very cost effective and environment friendly. Systems are incredibly low maintenance thus saving your time and effort. Also, solar energy systems provide a return on investment very quickly, thus making the generated energy free. Cooking with solar energy is also considered extremely healthy. More and more of the population are finding that implementing solar energy as a power solution very viable, especially with some governments providing rebates for installing these systems.

Hydro energy solutions: Hydro energy or water energy is an effective renewable energy. Gravity is used to convert the hydro energy into electrical energy then in turn the electricity is supplied to the power grid. Hydro energy is typically generated on a large scale. It has been estimated that 90 percent of the electrical energy produced by renewable resources is produced solely by hydro power. Dams are built to help generate electricity by harnessing the water power.

The Snowy Mountain Hydro Electric System built in Australia in the 1950′ is a good example of a large scale Hydro power system.

Wind energy solutions: Windmills have been employed by humans as a technology for thousands of years. They were initially used to tow boats and pump water. Recently they have been employed to very successfully generate electricity.

Present wind energy technology is incredible as wind turbines can generate tonnes of megawatts of electricity. When employed in wind turbine farms, it can help do away with conventional power sources altogether for communities. An excellent renewable source of energy, the wind energy will go a long way in promising a sustainable and carbon pollution reduced future to generations to come.
