A lot of unfortunate people have been forced to use the services of nonprofits/charities, just so they can get by. Donating money is not always the case food, and old clothes that you don’t use anymore are also good items to donate. Even old blankets; which what I did, Working alongside a friend of my mine, who co founded ROLAMVMT(reaching out Los Angeles) we did this very thing last winter. It gave me a different point of view on life. It’s important to be grateful for what you have; it can all be taking away from you at any giving moment. ROLA MVMT and Inner City Hopes were out on the streets of Skid Row on Dec. 17, 2011. We passed out clothes, blankets and food but do to the large amount of people on the streets, we decided to pass out blankets for a second time. Jan. 21. We hit the streets again! The turnout was amazing! 24 cars and trucks completely packed to the top.

Hundreds of blankets, socks and jackets were passed out. Teaming up with Inner City Hopes for the blanket drive was a success. Although the streets of down town Los Angeles are in tremendous need of help. For those two nights it felt like we made a difference even if for a short while. According to the Institute for the Study of Homelessness and Poverty, an estimated 254,000 men, women and children experience homelessness in Los Angeles County during some part of the year and approximately 82,000 people are homeless on any given night. With just a blanket and some food we made it possible for them to feel a sense of warmth, and there smiles will last with us forever. We were also involved in the Light the Night Walk, on Oct. 1, 2011,Team Rola Mvmt along with thousands of others lit up the streets of Hollywood, to help bring awareness and raise money towards the cure for Leukemia, together with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society; which has been dedicated to finding cures for blood cancers since 1949. We Lit up the night. It felt good to be a part of something so meaningful. We walked for a cure and for a sign of hope, the walk was dedicated to anyone who has lost someone due to cancer, or anyone battling it. Stay Strong!
