R.E.V. Strength System

Superior Edge CEO and Sports Performance Specialist Tony Thomas of Tonythomassports.com created a detailed sports performance training system and curriculum called the R.E.V. Strength System. Tony developed the R.E.V. Strength System to help athletes of all sports react with increased explosion and velocity in a more efficient manner during game performance. The R.E.V. Strength system is broken down into 4 key elements; reaction, explosion, velocity, and strength. When these 4 essential elements are combined and mastered in multiple sport specific directions and movements, you will see a more improved superior athlete. These elements are required by all sports, but very few people train their bodies in such a way as to invoke the recruitment of muscle fibers required to master and enhance their responsive athletic ability. The R.E.V. Strength System’s prime objective is to allow athletes to react more explosively in multiple sport specific directions, with the required efficient velocity and strength necessary for their given sport. Science proves that our bodies can naturally adapt to imposed demands. The R.E.V. Strength System trains the body in a way that repetitiously stimulates those imposed sport specific demands allowing your body to respond and develop the natural neuromuscular responses required for more efficient movement.

(Reaction )
How it applies to the R.E.V. Strength System

Many opportunities are missed in sports as a result of hesitant reactive responses. This issue can arise from a multiple amount of reasons such as, anxiety, fatigue, poor coordination, slow reflexes, inability to sense stimulus, lack of mental alertness, poor body positioning, and lack of concentration are some of the main factors responsible for such decreased reaction time. Therefore, In order to capitalize on every opportunity in game performance, an athlete must work on improving his reactive system. The only way to accomplish this is by stimulating all the senses involved in reacting to real game situations. This means everything from game time, sounds, hand gestures, touches, and visuals must be utilized holistically to test and prepare the athlete for competition. Essentially each of these stimuli will invoke a response from an athlete during the game. The Reaction component of the R.E.V. Strength System trains the athlete to react to the game time stimuli repetitively, and in as many ways as possible so that efficient response patterns come about more naturally during games.

In a game, immediately following reaction to stimuli, it is imperative for the athlete to efficiently explode. An athletes’ explosiveness is a combination of speed and strength also known as power. Power can be developed and improved in a number of ways including the use of plyometrics. Plyometrics are an integral way of improving power; its goal is to enhance reaction explosively via powerful muscle contractions. The R.E.V. Strength System implements power and plyometric drills in a multiple amounts of sport specific directions. Specifically, the system applies power and plyometric drills to the lower body, upper body, and core, both separately and holistically. The R.E.V. Strength System does this to allow the athlete to react more explosively during game time situations.

(Velocity)

After an athlete reacts explosively in a given direction they are usually required to maintain linear speed for a specific amount of time. How they maintain that speed in a given direction is called velocity. An athlete who wants to increase their velocity has to work the proper motor units and muscles in a coordinated way to increase stride length and stride frequency. The R.E.V. Strength System applies various assistive, resistive, and technique training to increase an athlete’s velocity. When an athlete applies all the given mechanics of training they are able to maintain a higher sport specific velocity during game time performance.

Being strong can be understood in a variety of ways, strength is defined and applied differently depending on the athlete and their sport. There are a multiple amount of classifications for strength. Some people consider muscular endurance as being strong; conversely some consider strength to mean who can push the heaviest weight. In actuality they are all right in their own way. The R.E.V. Strength System utilizes functional strength, this form of strength allows an athlete to become more functionally strong in their given sport. Thus, the athlete not only works on overall strength, but more importantly works the muscles that directly apply to what sport they specifically play.

Along with physical training, the R.E.V. Strength System also implements dietary and psychological analysis. Under the R.E.V. Strength System, athletes have access to natural food products that not only improve their athletic strength and ability, but also heighten mental awareness, alertness and functional response levels. All Supplements are selectively chosen by licensed sports nutritionists. In addition to the dietary analysis each athlete has consent to undergo an in depth psychological analysis by a Sports Psychiatrist. The athlete will receive weekly follow ups from trained professionals specializing in how the brain responds to stimuli and what conditions can affect game performance.
