Pro Bowler John Blanchard Scores a Record Low 129

Bowling is a very difficult sport and in order to become good at it, one must be a fairly decent athlete. You wouldn’t think so, would you? Try it sometime. The guys on TV make it look real easy.

I would compare a good bowling move, with a high-quality golf swing, tennis stroke, or baseball swing. All parts of the body must work in unison; moving forward, transferring body weight, releasing, and following through just at the right moment. And if you don’t think the game is physical, try lifting a sixteen pound ball over head and hurling it down a lane about forty times. Even if you are an athlete, you are going to feel muscles that you never knew you had the next day (especially in the buttocks region).

With that in mind, I watched pro bowler John Blanchard have the most horrible day of his career two days ago while competing in a tournament. Not only was Blanchard having a terrible game (129 going into the last frame), but to add insult to injury, he did not release the ball on the tenth frame and his momentum flung him into the alley where he ended up on his back. Although this gaffe can be considered an all-time blooper; it is not funny. Blanchard could have been seriously injured.
