PearCassso Kids’ Art Contest

Kids love to play with their food, and now the Pacific Northwest Canned Pear Service (PNCPS) and SmileMakers®, Inc., reprising their popular kids’ art contest using canned pears, will reward them for their efforts. The name of this year’s contest, Pearcasso, encourages kids and their schools to create imaginative art pieces with canned pears to win individual or group awards for art and school supplies.

The contest is open to all kids in two age categories-5-12 and 13-18-and individual and group entries. Prizes will be awarded to a first ($500), second ($250) and third ($100) in each category, with the prize winner taking home a SmileMakers, Inc. gift certificate for art and school supplies. The contest kicks off August 30, 2011 and closes November 15, 2011.

Of course, using U.S. canned pears or the pear graphic posted on the contest site in a realistic or fanciful creation is key to entering the competition. Entrants can decorate their pear however it suits their inner Pearcasso, take a photo of the finished work and enter it into the contest by email. When parental consent is secured, they will see their entry posted on the Eat Canned Pears Facebook page.

The judges’ decision will be announced on or before December 10, 2011.

The Pacific Northwest Canned Pear Service respects the privacy of minors and operates this contest in compliance with COPPA rules and regulations. Please note, all entries from minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian’s approval.
