Newt’s Inability to Maintain Control

Newt’s inability to maintain control

Newt Gingrich has ramped up his game in an attempt to leave this primary with some face! The self-proclaimed “true conservative” has pulled out all the stops on this spiraling train wreck coming down the pike! Following a pounding in the sunshine state of Florida as well as the forgone conclusion that Romney will again trounce Newt in Nevada is a seemingly pitiful attempt to not win votes or possibly the nomination but an attempt to diminish Romney.

While continuing his mantra concerning the incumbent president and Romney’s record being so close as to call Romney “Obama Lite” is falling on deaf ears. I know this is presidential politics “101” but it is still unseemly on Newts part! If Newt’s message was a clear a concise one, the GOP primary voters would gravitate to it. Newt’s rhetoric has been the same old tired sputum of the past several months during this primary season. Romney is on cruise control and will get the nomination locked up come Super Tuesday.

We are all aware of the “Reagan Rule” not to destroy your Republican opponent but drive home your message. This is easy to say when you are in the lead but once behind the proverbial “8 ball” most Republican’s throw that Reagan rule out of the window, along with their poor poll numbers. This being the case, there is some validity to his claims of Romney being very similar to Obama on many social issues (Romney will deny this of course) that are in the basket of goodies the Dem’s normally use in these campaigns.

The Romney team has rapidly produced adds disputing these claims by Newt by simply reiterating the “million dollar picture” of him and the much despised Nancy Pelosi they made together for the alleged battle of global warming (bet Newt wishes he could take a mulligan on that one). In this writer’s summation, Newt should tone down the attacks and hope for a crumb from Romney if he were to win the Presidency.

With Romney’s 50% of the vote in the Nevada Primary to Newts 21% now is the time for Newt to smell the coffee and move on with the rhetoric he’s been dishing out to the front runner and his campaign. Newt is becoming comical with his attacks and should rethink his positions and comments.
