Nevada Film Festival 2011 Calls for Extended Domestic and International Film Submissions

Bringing together top independent filmmakers, ever-increasing audience of indie feature and short films, and industry professionals, the annual Nevada Film Festival celebrates the best of American and international cinema for its 2011 festival slated on Dec. 2 to 3, 2011. It is set to host a number of world premieres, galas, Q&A segments, panel discussions, parties, meet and greets, and networking events at the Rampart Casino and Resort at Summerlin. Domestic and international films may be mailed with completed entry forms and fees at: Nevada Film Festival, 10795 W. Twain Avenue, Suite 100, Las Vegas, Nevada 89135. Film Submissions

Nevada Film Festival accepts films of all categories including, but not limited to: feature and short films, documentaries, experimental films, animated films, student films, Nevada films, television pilots, screenplays, musicals, and music videos of any genre, length, or form. Work-in-progress submissions are accepted. Interested filmmakers can download the application form found in its official website.

A film is eligible for the Nevada Filmmakers section if any of the key filmmakers including the director, writer, producer, or lead actor currently lives in Nevada or was born in the state, or if the film was primarily shot in the state. At the same time, the submitted film will also be considered for all of the festival’s applicable sections.

General Information

There are no premiere requirements for films to be accepted for the festival. Filmmakers will be notified if their entries are accepted about six weeks prior to the festival. For the submission process, a DVD (region 0 or 1) or video files like .MOV and .MPEG are accepted. For the films’ screening/exhibition copies, film and video formats are accepted and filmmakers will receive further technical information upon acceptance of their films for the festival.

Deadlines and Fees

Submission schedules for film entries are as follows: Feb. 28 for the Early Bird Deadline, May 31 for the Regular Deadline, Aug. 31 for the Late Deadline, and Sept. 20 for the Extended Deadline. Submission fees for short films are as follows: $25 for the Early Bird Deadline, $30 for the Regular Deadline, $35 for the Late Deadline, and $40 for the Extended Deadline. Submission fees for feature films are as follows: $30 for the Early Bird Deadline, $35 for the Regular Deadline, $40 for the Late Deadline, and $45 for the Extended Deadline.

Films over 50 minutes fall under the feature category. Students may subtract $10 from their entry fees by including a photocopy of their valid student IDs. All fees are charged in U.S. dollars using credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover) or check or money order payable to the Nevada Film Festival.
