My Review of Fearings in the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Dallas, Texas

Location

Fearing’s Restaurant is located at 2121 McKinney Avenue in Dallas, Texas located in the Ritz Carlton Hotel. It was a place where I am 50/50 on how my experience was.

Atmosphere

The atmosphere in each of the many separate areas is very different and unique from each other.

The Gallery is the location of their upscale dining. There are white linen clothed tables with light yellow with black and white designed couch style seats mixed with high backed chairs. The room has a high ceiling and the white walls are simply decorated with colorful pieces of art.

The Wine Cellar seats 16 people and offers a private, intimate dining experience. The long oak table is situated in a room behind large glass with shelves of wine bottles located on them under a stone vaulted ceiling.

The Ocaso is the beautiful outdoor dining area. In the center are square water fountains that light up at night. It is a great spot to relax at on nice summer nights.

The Rattlesnake Bar is a fairly large bar with a fun but cozy atmosphere. The rich mahogany paneled walls are inlayed with leather. The bar rails that curl up at the end of each side of the bar form into a rattlesnake. Behind the bar and the panels underneath the bar light up with a dark yellow color mixed with brown colored designs.

The Live Oak Bar is their outdoor drinking bar surrounded by nice landscaping of trees, brick pathways and flowers. This was our favorite spot at night to hang out at.

Last but not least is the famous Chef’s Table. Here you receive the royal treatment of being able to have the experience of eating right in the kitchen at a premier elevated location! The table seats 8 people and you will have front row seats to watch the Chef prepare your meal. The chef will also come and personally check on you a few times throughout the evening to ensure you are having a good time.

Drinks

Fearing’s Restaurant offers a nice array of premium tequilas, a variety of Chef Dean’s favorite margaritas and approximately 6000 bottles of boutique and rare vintage wines.

One of their specialty drinks was Texas Spring Punch which was a combination of Vodka, lemon juice, blackcurrant liqueur, maple syrup and sparkling wine. It was very addicting.

Menu

Depending on where you choose to eat determines what is on the menu. Below is a mixture of choices from all of the menu options that Fearings offers.

Appetizers

BBQ Shrimp Taco with smoky citrus vinaigrette

Lobster Coconut Bisque with Ginger Sizzling Rice

Apricot BBQ Glazed Lockhart Texas Quail

Red hot Bacon Wrapped Jalapeno Quail

Entrees

Carnitas/chorizo Street Tacos and Avocado Fries

Highly Marbled Tennessee Pork Chop

Maple-Black Peppercorn Soaked Buffalo Tenderloin

Prices ranged from $10 and up. It was a little on the expensive side. This is a place where you pay for the atmosphere and presentation. Not for the amount of food. So you may want to order an appetizer also if you eat here.

Overall

It was a really nice place, but just wasn’t spectacular for me for the price we paid for our meal and drinks. The atmosphere was pretty, the service was great and the food was just okay. I guess I was expected more “wow” from the place and we just didn’t get that.

I am not recommending that you don’t try Fearings, but I wouldn’t exactly suggest that you eat here. I would suggest going for some drinks at night in the outdoor bar area. The atmosphere was really gorgeous out there.
