My Grandpa’s Hands

His hands are rough,

But never harsh,

Strong,

Yet gentle.

They held me up while I learned to walk,

Worked while I talked,

And held me while I cried.

They were used to support his family,

Blackened with grease,

Callused by work,

Wrinkled by time.
