Moon over Iraq
with beautiful silvery light,
I long for my love so far away,
shine on my sweetheart tonight!
Darling, you went off to war
and my prayers went with you!
How I long for your safe return
my heart aches for this to be through!
My brave warrior, so far away!
We are all so proud of you!
Fighting our nation’s battles,
courageous, loyal and true.
Till then, I like to imagine,
gazing at that lovely moon,
you are gazing too, thinking of me,
longing to come back soon!
The casualties or war are not just those at the front but the women and their families who wait. We should remember them in our prayers in this Christmas season. How many are dreaming of a Christmas “just like the ones that used to be.”?
