Modifying Your Exercise Regimen for Fall

Sometimes an exercise program can get boring which is what it is important to consider modifying your exercise program for fall just as you would for summer. In cooler weather there are things physically that can be done that don’t take a toll on the body the way it could during the hotter months of the year. This fall consider modifying your exercise program not only to keep things fresh but to also use muscles you may not be using as much.

If your routine is to walk daily consider either walking faster or even consider incorporating running into your daily routine. The change of season from summer to fall is the perfect time to begin a running program or any exercise program for that matter because the weather is cooler. If you generally walk or run at a gym or indoor track it is time to take it outside. Early mornings or just prior to dusk are both perfect times of the day to get in a quick run or a great power walk leaving you feeling tighter, stronger and more flexible.

If you have been swimming all summer as a form of exercise now that the weather is changing you might consider bicycling to change things up a bit. Though swimming is definitely the perfect workout, by switching to a physical activity such as cycling, you have the opportunity to engage muscle groups in a different manner leaving you with a different kind of strength and flexibility.

The idea of modifying your exercise program for fall is primarily to stay active and keep the routine fresh. Everyone has a tried and true love of some sort of sport or activity but when the seasons change it is the ideal time to try something new or to give life to an exercise program in which you have lost interest. By changing things up you stay focused not only on your physical health, and mental well being, you also maintain a commitment to being strong and fit.
