Making Sense of the Tebow Hate

Did you know that there are still some people who can’t stand Tim Tebow, even some who hate the guy?

Just why is that?

Is it because he’s a Christian? Because he’s so publicized? Or perhaps it’s because he’s such a publicized Christian?

Whatever the reason, and despite the fact that he was recently voted America’s most popular athlete, there are still scores of Tebow detractors out there.

Nevertheless, the question remains, why do so many people view Tebow in such a negative light?

I think I may have found the answer: they’re jealous.

That’s right. Those who dislike Tebow, be it because of his religion (which he wears on his sleeve 24/7), the outrageous amount of publicity that he receives (although I enjoy the positive publicity that he garners), or his up and down play at times (honestly, he gets lucky sometimes, but that’s true of any athlete) – those people are simply jealous. They feel that he’s too good to be true.

He is.

I’m sorry – actually, no I’m not – but it’s the truth. People keep looking for ways to bring the guy down, but with every “God bless you” that he utters, with every little kid (or adult, for that matter) that he inspires, with every improbable comeback that he leads, he continues to show that he will always be that same humble, outspoken , charming, and polite guy that he has always been.

That’s who Tebow is. That’s why he inspires so many. But it’s also why he ticks so many off.

For everyone who likes and respects the guy, there also seems to be someone there to bash him and put him down for some ridiculous reason.

The thing is, he never stoops to their level, whether he’s on the highest of highs or the lowest of lows – the latter of which really never seems to be seen, given the incredible faith and perseverance that he has shown throughout his entire life.

He seems to have taken the “Kill ‘em with kindness” mantra to a whole new level.

Sooner or later, maybe he’ll prove all those haters wrong. After all, he has already had many of them shaking their heads in disbelief – in a good way, mind you.

And if you happen to be reading this and consider yourself a Tebow hater, it’s not too late to climb on the bandwagon, my friend. “Tebow Time” looks to be here to stay.

Deal with it.
