Life is What You Make it Out to Be. Never Forget That

My life hasn’t been easy. When I was four years old my Dad passed away from Mesothelioma. My Mom became depressed shortly after and began drinking. I don’t want to get too personal but my childhood wasn’t easy. When I was nine years old my Mom passed away from liver failure. Since then my life hasn’t been the greatest. I didn’t want to tell you why my life is horrible though. I wanted to talk about life in general.
I’ve never been a fan of the theory that life is planned out for you, that every move you make is predestined. I believe you make your own choices. You decide your fate. I’m not a very religious person. I was brought up Catholic but I’ve never really been a fan of organized religion or the theory that if you don’t do as “God” or the Church says your condemned to Hell. I believe if you are a generally good person with a good moral code that you can be happy and have a great life.

I guess what I’m saying is that life is what you make it. Do what you want to do, not what someone else wants you to do. You only get one shot so make it count.

I’m an 18 year old girl who hasn’t the faintest idea what she wants to do. Every day my mind changes directions. One day I want to be a police officer. The next, a writer. I can’t find work because of the Economy and I’m not attending college until November. This puts a lot of pressure and stress on me because my Aunt and Uncle want me to be in college and have a job NOW. I am so afraid of the future because I can’t see it. I can’t tell you what I want to be in 10 years or where I’ll be. But that’s OK.

The point of this article isn’t me telling you my problems. The point is, Live life to the fullest. Dye your hair a crazy color, get that tattoo. Be your own person. Don’t change for anyone but yourself. Do what makes you truly happy.

I hope you enjoyed this article. Thanks for reading. More to come hopefully.
