Lemon Water Beauty Secrets

Years ago, I used to roll my eyes when health-conscious friends ordered lemon water with their meals. Today, beauty science has helped me have a change of heart. According to WebMD, a glass of lemon water makes a good alternative to a sweet, calorie-laden snack and it helps burn calories but there are benefits beyond these. Enjoy real beauty advantages beyond purging your body with acidic, lemon-infused water. Have lunch with me and you’ll see me opting for a big glass of cleansing, fragrant water just for beauty’s sake.

Lemon water hair rinse: Finish your shampoo and conditioning with a cool water rinse, with a hint of lemon. The cool water closes the hair cuticle making it stronger and shinier. The lemon juice adds brilliance and strips away residual hairspray and heavy conditioners. I bring a plastic pitcher with lemon slices into the shower with me. Easy lemon water beauty secret!

Lemon water facial toner: Dabbing facial skin with undiluted lemon juice is a harsh treatment for my skin. Instead, I squeeze fresh lemon juice in a small plastic bottle along with purified water. After a few shakes, I dab on the lemon water as a toner using a clean cotton ball. My natural toner fights blemishes and leaves the skin looking bump-free.

Citrus skin brightener: Add a drop of lemon water to your moisturizer to give skin more brightness. Here’s what I do. I squirt a dime sized amount of moisturizer into my hand. Next, I squirt a drop or two of lemon water into my hand. I rub them together then rub it on my skin. Don’t add lemon water directly to your moisturizer bottle. Over time, this could lead to mold.

Freckle fader: Dab a cotton ball in lemon water then rub it over your freckles. Lemon juice is a natural freckle fader! Don’t expect overnight results but regular use will result in skin lightening. Use caution though. Don’t use lemon juice on your skin before laying in the sun unprotected. This can give you reverse results.

Dandruff killer: Rinsing your hair with lemon has other benefits too. You can rinse away dandruff flakes. Not all dandruff needs to be treated with prescription products. A light case of dandruff can be treated with lemon water. Use the fresh water in between the shampoo and conditioning for the best results.
