Laughing at Kevin Hart’s Pain

I just got back from the movies and I am still laughing at Kevin Hart’s pain. This is the funniest stand up comedy movie I have seen since Richard Pryor’s “Live on the Sunset Strip”. If Eddie Murphy was “Raw”, then this was Raw on steroids.

This movie was brilliantly done. This is not a typical comedy movie. This was a journey. We find out about who Kevin Hart is. His childhood, growing up in Philly and his adult life. He takes comedy to a whole new level. From the time he comes on the screen until the end of the movie, I knew I was seeing a guy that was transcending the way I view comedy films.

I have not laughed this hard since Chris Rock’s HBO special “Never Scared.” I laughed till my stomach was in knots. In fact I am going to do something I have not done since I saw Purple Rain, I am going to pay to see it again at the theatre. It is worth it. I think this is the type of movie that has to be initially viewed at the theatre to get the full effect. To hear others laughing as hard as you. People repeating lines as they are leaving the theatre. These things cannot be done at home with the initial viewing if you wait for it to go to DVD.

I also liked the cameo appearance by Taraji P. Henson. This was a pleasant surprise as I have always liked her. She brought her usual beauty and sassy wit to her part. Go see it to find out why she is in it.

This is not your typical movie and I refrained from reading about the movie because I knew I would not be able to see it until today. I did not want anyone telling me all the good stuff. Anyway, This movie has lived up to all the hype that Kevin Hart professed about it on his twitter page.

I believe this is the type of movie you can watch ten years from now and it will be as funny then as it was the first time you saw it. I believe Kevin Hart has reached a level that few comedians can reach or try to reach. He curses, but he does not have to curse to make every joke funny. He can make you laugh without cursing, he can also make you laugh without saying a word at all.

I believe Kevin Hart is about to reach a stratosphere he probably never dreamed of, and with his comedic talent, he deserves it.
