Laptop? Yes Please

There are laptops and smart phones and various technological contraptions enough to boggle your mind and lose you into techno-oblivion. So when it came right down to it, my decision on my new computer was based on two things: who has the best deal and the highest quality. My husband and I agreed that going back for my master’s degree was the best choice, and that I would need a laptop computer. My job requires me to travel and to think I could keep up with my course work and travel without a laptop was preposterous – especially given the circumstances of an online master’s program. So a laptop or notebook or pad of some sort was in order. In came my Dell laptop.

Now the most amusing part to me is that I had to look up what version it was I ended up getting – I couldn’t remember the name and versions change so fast that what was top of the line in April is now old news. I went with the XPS L702X version of the Dell Inspiron. Dell is my preferred brand, be it desktop or laptop. That they have a credit card program doesn’t hurt a bit either! My laptop came with some of the most fantastic tricked-out specs including a light-up keyboard (which I love), a numeric 10-key on the right (a must for my line of work and school work – not to mention habitual use), and a multitude of intricacies I probably don’t know or use nearly enough to justify the machine I chose. Similar to my car, I just want to be able to turn it on and go. This doesn’t mean that I am not aware an oil change will be needed every 6 months or 2,000 miles – just as with my laptop a good defrag or security scan is necessary. Dell also provides great warranties for folks like me.

There is only one thing I do not love about my laptop: it is big and heavy. I lump those into one because it seems practical that it would be a heavier machine with its size. I had to order a special case just because of the width of the thing, but I didn’t mind that so much since I chose one that was for ‘The Executive Woman” and what woman wouldn’t love that?!?!
