One of the best visuals available for your online learner is to tape a cue card above your child’s work station with all the expectations of the week. Usually I set time aside on Sunday evening, as my student’s Academic Learning Coach, and made note of the week’s expectations in each subject area. This can be done by viewing your student’s portal. Once you become accustomed to this, it takes a mere 10-15 min. to complete this task and worth every minute especially when you’re busy during the upcoming week! If you have a Pace Chart for the course, it’s as simple as checking the due dates in each area as you flip the pages. Then with a black marker, which makes things a bit noticeable, I labeled each subject area and the unit that will be due on that upcoming Friday. Work was then easy to check and complete! More importantly, it allowed my student to become better at self-pacing on busy days.
