Johnny Depp & Amber Heard Premiere “The Rum Diary” in Paris & London

Tending to Parisian press duties, co-stars Johnny Depp and Amber Heard attended the premiere of “The Rum Diary” in Paris, France on Tuesday evening (November 8).

The “Donnie Brasco” actor and the “Playboy Club” star looked lovely as they hit the red carpet, posing for pictures with the film’s director Bruce Robinson before making their way inside the Gaumont Marignan Cinema.

Happy to have feet back firmly on the ground, Johnny recently told Life magazine of the time he and Robinson were once aboard an aircraft that nearly crashed.

Depp told the mag, “The plane just shut down. The sound of the engines stopped. There was silence. Bruce and I were looking at each other and I think I said, ‘Is this it?’ It was like this weird extended moment when you’re just floating for a second and you could feel this unpleasant descent. Nobody said a word except for Bruce and I, sitting next to each other saying, ‘Oh s***! This is death, I guess this is how it goes down.”

He continued, “Then we burst into hysterical laughter at the idea that this was how we were going to die.” Despite the scare, the plane’s power came back on shortly after.

Continuing on with their intense promotional schedule, Johnny Depp and Amber Heard were spotted at a photocall for “The Rum Diary” earlier today.

The “Pirates of the Caribbean” stud and his “The Joneses” co-star both looked stellar as they hammed it up for the paparazzi and fans who gathered to greet them in Paris.

During a recent interview, Johnny confessed that he’s been hoping to do this film for over a decade and is glad to give a fitting tribute to his friend, the late author Hunter S. Thompson.

“It’s been a long road, you know. This whole thing commenced around 1997 with me and Hunter, and here we are in 2011 and it’s actually happening.”

“We were in Hunter’s house and there were these endless boxes of stuff. I started pulling things out and stumbled upon The Rum Diary. We started reading it and I told him to publish it. Within about 20 minutes we were already talking about the movie rights and how we should produce this film together.”

“One of my last efforts to salute the man was to continue in our venture, forcing him – even in death – to be a producer. We had to utilize all these elements to recognize Hunter, to salute him. Bruce and I would arrive on set every morning, pour the glass full with Chivas Regal, dunk our fingers in, maybe take a sip and get on with the day – just to make sure Hunter was there. And he was – every day, every second, every moment – for us.”

Last week (November 3), Johnny and Amber could again be seen premiering their new film, this time at Odeon Kensington in London, England.

No doubt the center of attention, 25-year-old Amber was the image of envy in a long-sleeved skin tight dress by Alessandra Rich. The duo was joined on the red carpet by Depp’s Dark Shadows cast mate, Eva Green, who stars alongside the handsome actor in the 2012 horror thriller.

Prior to the London screening, Miss Heard explained of her decision to star in The Rum Diary.

Speaking to press, Amber told, “It did not take me long to say yes”, adding, “I’ve always been a massive fan of Hunter S Thompson, long before this. And I loved (screenwriter) Bruce Robinson’s Withnail and I, I thought he was a genius. I just thought, ‘Wow, they’re going to pay me too?’ It was a dream job.”
