It’s the Media’s Fault! Is America as Bad as They Say?

Why can’t I find a politician who talks about how good we have it, even when things are bad? Am I the only one who is frustrated with politicians who do things from their head and not from their heart? Should America’s future be their priority instead of their party. It seems like as soon as a President is elected the debate begins on what is wrong with the other party.

Did you know…when you smile, pain doesn’t hurt so bad?
………… CEOs are now playing miniature golf.

Sometimes I wish there would be no Democratic or Republican party, and the politician’s job description would be “What is best for the American people.” Not “What is best for the party.” So…get over it boys and girls (is that a good way to describe the politicians), become adults and stop the “Blame Game.” It was Clinton’s fault…Bush got us into this mess….Obama caused this! Enough…Already! If you do not blame someone you never have to forgive them. End of the story! Acceptance is the answer. Then, we can have a new beginning.

A sense of humor sometimes can help you make it through the day!
……………….Exxon-Mobil laid off 25 Congressmen.

Yes, I know it’s a tough time for many Americans, who cannot find a job and cannot provide for their family like your parents did. However, we will get through this. I know it is much eraser said than done. You are probably asking yourself “How do I stay positive when I am hungry?” The answer is simple but not easy.

Even the wealthy is trying to lower their debt ceiling!
…..Angelina Jolie adopted a child from America.

We must change our thinking! Not an easy thing to do when we are surrounded by people places and things telling us how bad we have it. Every news channel, newspaper and even friends at the coffee shop reminds us about our doom and gloom. So start your gratitude list. There is always something to be grateful for.

Everyone is cutting back…
Motel Six won’t leave the light on anymore.

Start with your family and friends. They are the pillar of life. Give thanks for that. There are many countries whose families are broken up because of economics or government rules. For them, freedom is only a dream.

A picture is now only worth 200 words!

How about food…. No one in the US has died from starvation! Yes, some are hungry. America will never let that happen. We have food stamps, churches and good neighbors who will always make sure we have something to eat. Just look at Somalia (add this to your gratitude list) no food or clean water! Do you know how many children, and adults died as you are reading this? One is too many! I know even the homeless would share a meal to help with this world embarrassment.

Shelter…The number one fear in the world !….no place to live. Very few people in the US will ever have to face this. Even most of the homeless have a shelter to go to. Do you want to learn the true meaning of “Being Homeless?” check out the rest of the world who never heard of health insurance or a hospital which must take you and save your life, even if you do not have the money. They do not believe that there is a country that will pay you if you cannot find a job. These “take for granted” benefit’s Americans have are only a dream for others in the world. Add this to your gratitude list!

The bottom line is being happy. I have not met anyone who did not say all I want “Is to be content with life,” so learning to be happy with what you have not what you do not have… is the answer. We must change our thinking! So here is your homework. Just try this for one week. Do not listen to the media! Start listening to your heart. Remind yourself about your gratitude list. Now, here is the important part….share your thoughts with others. I promise you will be surprised with the results. You will be amazed when others start telling you what they are grateful for. Yes, it is contagious.

A bit about me and how I adopted to this new “Be Grateful” lifestyle. I live in the US, Mexico and soon Thailand. Where I have volunteered with “The International Humanity Foundation” and will be working in an orphanage for one year. I am not wealthy and live below my means on my $800 a month S.S.
I do not have a car (Did you know if you do not have a car you will never have a flat tire!) or a fancy home and no credit cards. However, all my needs are met. Yes, I have wants but I have discovered I can live without the fear of economic insecurity. So can you! Today, you can start my one-week “gratitude challenge.” That is how I started, and I am still doing it. JIM… “The Idea Man”
