I Just Miss You, That’s All

I won’t compare us to a summer’s day,
where lover’s doom and gloom does inevitably fall.
I won’t go back in time to grab a moment,
or pontificate on things I simply can’t recall.

I just miss you, that’s all.

We seldom ran through fields of flowers.
We didn’t take our bows at love’s curtain call.
I miss our morning coffee and our late night giggles.
I miss our emails and our jokes dotted with urban sprawl.

I just miss you, that’s all.

I miss our time together good and bad;
standing for one when the other took a fall.
Laughing at things that only we understood,
weathering life’s formidable squall.

I just miss you, that’s all.

I miss us loudly singing in my living room,
playing with the dog, bouncing her toys off the wall.
I miss the wisdom of the slant you always saw clearly
I miss the loyalty you wrapped around me like a shawl.

I just miss you, that’s all.
