Don’t know what to do with those old bras? Have you thought about turning them into a purse? I thought this bra purse was a creative way to recycle and create a new accessory from your wardrobe.

Where would you find materials for the bra purse project?

Clothing. If you have blouses that have appliques that you are no longer wearing, use those as part of dressing up the purse. The brightly colored or decorative buttons are another item to be used. Check the kids clothes for decorative pieces. This can be the best source of embellishments when these pieces of clothing are too stained to sell or donate.

Broken pieces of jewelry. If you’re like me, you probably have at least one necklace or bracelet that’s broken. Since most costume jewelry costs more to repair than it does to replace it, use the beads or strips of beads to decorate your purse.

Craft stores. Even if you don’t feel like taking a special trip to Hobby Lobby, check out Wal-Mart the next time you’re in shopping. You can find all kinds of bobbles in their craft section.

Junk drawers. Surely there’s those extra buttons or other small pieces in your junk drawers that could be used.

Broken remotes. Remove the control keys, electronic parts, and other pieces that could be put on your purse. Create an updated steampunk style of bra purse.

What to make with the left over bra pieces?

Pencil holder. A pencil holder could be made from the sides of the bra. Stitch the sides together and reattach the loose ends of the straps for easier carrying.

Scissor pouch. Keep your good scissors hidden away from the kids by using the sides of the bra as a pouch for your scissors. They’ll never touch scissors again.

Hot or cold pack. Make a hot or cold pack while using the bra straps as a way to hold it in place. This style of hot or cold pack can be used for shoulders, elbows, necks, knees, and ankles.

What else can the bra purse be used for?

Small decorative pillows. Rather than leaving the inside open for use, stuff with fiber fill and stitch the opening shut.

Small decorative containers. The bra purse could be used as a container for holding small toys, craft supplies, travel supplies, and other items that are easily lost.

Sachets. Filling the interior of the cups with your favorite potpouri or scented balls and hung on the wall can be a whimsical way to keep your home or car smelling peachy.
