Thomas Albany is not an ordinary artist; this multifaceted man comes from Southern California. When he was young, he discovered his stream of creativity drawing comics and writing poetry, but that was just the beginning of his unlimited resourcefulness. As he got older, he added new hobbies to his list of activities, which included skateboarding, drawing and playing guitar. He became a website designer in 1995 and went full time after he got tired of other musicians. It was then when he decided to dedicate his time to illustration and design.
In 2003, Thomas was struck by tragedy when he discovered the first stages of fibromyalgia, an overwhelming disease characterized by its long standing, body-wide pain with defined tender points. The pain he suffered was similar to arthritis without the swelling and it became a common life for him to wake up with body aches and stiffness.
As the disease progressed, he was forced to give up his favorite hobbies and he also found himself jobless. A once creative man with a decent job was now unable to pay his bills, or use his art as a stress outlet. He felt a devastating sense of hopelessness that drove him to deep levels of depression, left with nothing more but to cultivate his mind with books. He saw the light in philosophical books, comparative religious studies and science that includes physics as it pertains to philosophy.
Being in constant pain has been his biggest demon, but Thomas is determined to continue with his creative work regardless of the amount of time it takes, because his goals have been set in stone.
Thomas is most proud of his Bubble Gum Sci-Fi style and his Fundamental Doctrine of Universal Humanism. He believes that Philosophy and Art go hand in hand to reach Kalokagathia.
