You can make a day of it, depending where you live, and explore one part of a museum, have lunch and then explore the other part. Or make it a museum week where you spend each day of the work week at a different museum or small gallery. From unusual museums like scouting to sculpture parks, there are so many to see and learn from.

Shopping Day
This will not be your typical shopping day, however, you still want it to be fun. If you have kids in school who are learning about money, probably around 2nd or third grade, a great way for them to learn is to shop. Take them to a dollar store or somewhere where they can buys small trinkets that they can afford. Have them bring a certain amount and figure out how much they can spend, if they have enough money, how much more they would need etc….Reward them with lunch or a sweet snack.

Board Games
Playing board games can also be a learning experience. We play a lot of matching games which are great for memory. Also games where the kids have to count to get to a space is very helpful for math, and other games where you have to pick cards and read are great too. Learning patience and good sportsmanship is also a big part of game playing and a great way to learn is at home.

Movie Day
There’s nothing like a relaxing movie day with pop-corn, pajamas and fluffy pillows to sit on. But you can also make it fun and educational by showing age appropriate movies that are also educational. Nothing wrong with slipping a Disney movie in there, they usually have a moral at the end too, but there are plenty of educational movies you can also show such as movies about subjects like math that are geared towards kids, or movies about the planets etc…
