Saturday morning I woke up to the sound of my cell phone going off. I let it ring and tried to go back to sleep. Again in rang. This time I wasn’t quick enough to get to it. So I went into my bathroom to start my day.
My wife came in because her cell phone had rung.
“Darrell” she said “Carlos killed Jenny Kay Last night”.
I was shocked at first I wasn’t sure I heard her right.
See Carlos was already in jail for attempting to kill her once. I’m not sure how long he was in or what had happened in the past. I didn’t talk much to Jenny anymore. However she was still one my closest relatives. One who I loved dearly. I didn’t know much about the situaion. He had served his time and was let out. Jenny had a restraining order on him but it did nothing. She lived in Las Cruces on the east mesa. Her boyfriend was not at home at the time. Only Jenny, her two sons and her boyfriend’s daughter was home.
I don’t know the entire story right now but through hearsay this is what happened. Jenny was staying up late watching movies. I guess she had gotten up to let her dogs out for a little while. He was standing at her door. There’s no telling how long he had been there. Then he got violent. He beat her up and then stabbed her with a knife multiple times then threatened the children. After a few moments he passed out. The daughter took the oldest son out of the house and ran to the neighbors who called 911. When the cops arrived they found him sleeping on the floor next to her body. They arrested him with no incident.
So here is my opinion. What good is a restraining order if it can’t be enforced. With men of this type how could he be let go to wander the streets. This man was pure evil and deserves no less than to be put to death. Why then would a system that is supposed to protect the innocent let him out. What more can people do to stop this kind of violence. I’m lost I don’t know what to do. It appears more and more that people are going crazy in their heads.
This man so violently beat his ex-wife in front of his own children not caring at all about them and what he has done to their lives. When is enough enough. This government and bleeding hearts have screwed up the ability for parents to raise their children correctly and now those kids grow up to be murderers and have no morals at all.
In this case, this low life coward of a man cares nothing about being in prison. And New Mexico no longer supports the death penalty. So all of our taxes are going to give this man a home with three meals a day where he has to do nothing.
Of course I’m hurt, so this is only my opinion and the opinion of my family but I feel that getting rid of the death penalty was a big mistake for New Mexico. It has opened the doors for people like Carlos to take advantage and kill without having any consequence to worry about. This is an extremely sad time in my family’s life. We are a very close family who’s whole world was just torn apart.
