Since the tapes with designs often contain color, they also use aluminum oxide, so you are sacrificing better grip for style.

Although durability and price are important considerations, skaters should also be aware that many tapes can damage shoes. If you select cheaper tapes with an extremely rough surface, then your shoes will suffer. Additionally, all tapes will eventually need to be replaced as they wear out. Heat, humidity and temperature fluctuations will destroy the adhesive faster.
