Repurpose the back pockets of old jeans into an easy to use CD holder. This inventive craft protects CD’s from scratches and makes a great durable gift! The same instructions work on any pocket that is large enough to hold a CD.
Things You’ll Need:
Old blue jeans
Scissors
Straight pins
Sewing machine
Thread
Rickrack, lace or ribbon
Hot glue gun
Hot glue sticks
Instructions:
Step 1 – Cut the pockets from the back of an old pair of blue jeans. Make the first cut just above the top edge of the back pocket.
Step 2 – Cut ¼-inch away from the side and bottom edges of the pocket.
Step 3 – Repeat Steps 1 and 2 for the desired number of CD pockets.
Step 4 – Place the first pocket on a flat work surface so the top edge is up.
Step 5 – Place the top edge of the next pocket 1-inch below the first. Lift the bottom of the pocket and squeeze a line of glue on the ¼-inch piece of denim that extends past the pocket underneath. Press the two pockets together. Repeat the process for the remaining pockets.
Step 6 – Pin the pocket strip together.
Step 7 – Zigzag through all layers of fabric along the sides and bottom edge of the stack of pockets.
Step 8 – Hot glue or sew rickrack, lace or ribbon over the zigzagged edges.
Embellish the front of the CD holder with puffy paint, patches or other adornments. Sew two pieces of 1-inch elastic on the back of the blue jean pocket CD holder to create a way to hold the CD holder on a car visor.
