5 Fall Birthday Party Ideas for Kids

As the mother of a November birthday baby, I’m a little bit partial to fall birthdays. I believe fall is the perfect time to host a party for kids, and there are so many fun, autumn-related party options available.

Whether you stay indoors or venture out in the beautiful, crisp fall outdoors, the ideas are limitless. Here are our five favorite fall birthday party ideas for kids (or those of any age):

1. Pumpkin party

When you think of fall, don’t you instantly think of pumpkins? They’re the epitome of autumn! Plan a pumpkin-themed party, which all the kids will love. Serve pumpkin pie and pumpkin cookies for dessert. Serve party dips and chili in hollowed-out pumpkins for fun decorations. For party game ideas, be sure to play a round of pumpkin-toss, then have each of the kids paint or carve a pumpkin to take home as a favor.

2. Corn maze

Taking kids to a corn maze is an easy party idea, because you don’t have to prepare or clean your own house. Plan ahead by calling a local farm to reserve your birthday party. Then bring along pizza and birthday cake, and let the kids wander around in the maze. Don’t forget to bring plenty of chaperones!

3. Hayride

What else says ‘fall’ like a hayride? A staple of autumn, a hayride is a great way to keep kids entertained while enjoying the great fall outdoors. Whether it’s a traditional scenic hayride or a scary one, kids will love this birthday party idea. Don’t forget to bring some snacks!

4. Costume party

If your child’s birthday falls somewhere around Halloween, why not plan a costume party for kids? This is a great way for children to recycle their Halloween costumes and get another use out of them besides one night of trick-or-treating. Kids will love to dress up and show off their costumes to each other. Plus, you can continue to use your same holiday decorations for the birthday party.

5. Outdoor party

There are so many great outdoor activities you can do in fall, when the air is nice and crisp, but not too cold. Plan an outdoor birthday party, where you can have kids bob for apples, play tag or football, build scarecrows, play a round of cornhole and roast marshmallows by a bonfire. If you don’t want to plan something fancy, this fall birthday party idea is one of the easiest and best ‘homemade’ parties.
