5 Best Sellers Ever Read!

If you were to explore a library shelf to find topics on me, you would do best to look for books about blankets, alarm clocks, mountain streams, Vernal Falls in Yosemite Valley, and knitting needles. Quite an eclectic mix, wouldn’t you say? Everyone’s personality is like a priceless collection of books, all unique and different. Mine is no different, except this collection has my name on it, Toni Clark. I would like to introduce my collection to you, five books that will portray my distinct personality traits as mentioned in the opening statement. You are officially invited to read on…

The first book in the collection describes the attributes of a blanket. Not just any blanket, but the type that makes you think of home and mother when you wrap it around you. A blanket that makes you feel warm and comfortable, safe and loved. I have a blanket just like this that I keep safe in a closet. It is too fragile to use now, but if I hold it up to my face, I can recall all of the feelings just described. That is how I want my daughters to always feel about me.

In contrast, the next book on the list shows a much different side of me. I may be able to nurture and comfort, but I can also shake things up a bit in my household. My family calls it the eleven o’clock drill. What am I referring to? I’m talking about the time of day when the household is readying itself for bed. When everyone is sleepy and thinking about falling into bed. That is when I go into action. I’ll find a stray shoe here or a book thrown there. Even worse, I’ll find a wet bath towel on my bed or on a chair. And that’s when I blow, kind of like an alarm clock. I become the drill sergeant, giving orders to each member of the house to clean up their messes. This happens often since my family find my lack of patience amusing.

The next book’s subject is about cool mountain streams. On a hot summer day, how many times have you wished that you could sit beside a cool mountain stream and listen to its calming sounds, and dip a toe into the flowing water? That’s what I try to do as a wife and mother and even for visitors in my home. I try to keep my home a place of peace, acting in a calm fashion to resolve family squabbles.

The following book describes a journey up Vernal Falls in Yosemite Valley. It is a true story about my adventurous side. I treasure the memories of hiking alongside my husband, outfitted in a rain poncho and carefully placing one boot at a time up the slippery and wet stone steps. My heart pounded at times, at the thrill of seeing a rainbow in the spray or just in the sheer enjoyment of walking on a true creation of God.

The final book of the collection may hold all of the elements mentioned in the previous books. In this book you will find a picture of my trusty size 8 knitting needles. They are made of bamboo, a lightweight wood that doesn’t tire the hands and is easy to grip. I use them to create warm scarves and hats, sunglass cases the color of evergreens, hot pink purses, and projects that make me step out of my safety zone of knitting knowledge and venture into new techniques.

I hope that you have enjoyed previewing my personal book collection. It’s intent is to familiarize the reader with my personality traits, may they be quirky, funny or introspective. And oh yes, please don’t forget to place the books back on the shelf when you are finished!
