Three local breweries in Indianapolis, Indiana are Sun King Brewing Company, Broad Ripple Brew Pub, and Scotty’s Thr3e Wise Men Brewery. Sun King is located downtown Indy on College. Brew Pub and Thr3e Wise Men is located in Broad Ripple. All three breweries have tasteful selections in their growing empires. Two of them have delicious food to accompany them.
Sun King Brewing Company has a tasting room and refills growlers for $5. Sun King has a distinct brewing smell when entering its complex. There are four house beers on tap in the tasting room including Three Ale’s Sunlight Cream, Wee Mac Scottish, and Osiris Pale. There is also Bitter Druid ESB. They also have three seasonal beers on tap including Grapefruit Jungle India Pale Ale and Pale Ryder Rye Pale Ale and Big H Hefeweisen. Sun King is represented at many Indiana festivals and events while many local eateries support Sun King in their beverage selection. Sun King is on the lips of many Indianapolis citizens. Sun King can be bought in cans at liquor stores.
Thr3e Wise Men has four beers currently on tap including Two Lucy’s Blackberry Wheat, Golden Zoe IPA, Centennial Martyr Double IPA, and Snow Bunny Blonde. They also have craft bottle beer to-go including Bells, Lakefront, Mad Anthony, People’s, Sun King, Three Floyd’s, and Upland. They also have specials including Tuesday and Friday are $6 growler refills, Monday and Thursday $1 off all pints, and Wednesday $3 pint night, and Tuesday $4 bottle night.
Besides beer, Thr3e Wise Men serves Italian themed food while providing inside and outside seating. It has a simple menu with pizza, salad, breadsticks, and sandwiches. The thin crust pizzas are big and the glasses are tall. The restaurant is family style with picnic tables. Guests can view the background with the silver distilleries for making beer through the picture windows.
Broad Ripple Brew Pub is based off an English bar and provides indoor and outdoor seating. Brew Pub refills growlers for $11 in plastic or glass. Monday is $3 pint night. There are six beers on tap including I.P.A. India Pale Ale, Wobbly Bob, Limping Mallard, Lawn Mower Pale Ale, Belgian Brown, and Hefe Weizen.
Broad Ripple Brew Pub also serves English style food. Some selected dishes include Bangers and Mash, buffalo burgers, and vegetarian dishes. Patrons can only view the silver distilleries during regular working hours when they are sitting in the bar area. In addition, a game of darts can be played in the backroom.
